I own a loft in the Two Bridges area of the Lower East Side. The building and shell elements of my apartment were developed with architectural elegance and precision, so any additional construction and furnishings needed to enhance and frame how the apartment’s nearly 30 windows capture the amazing NYC skyline. This was the task Mark and Modern Living Supplies were given. The work they provided was of the highest quality in both workmanship and artistry. Modern Living Supplies ‘finished’ the design of my loft while making it more livable and high-functioning. I highly recommend them.

I commissioned Modern Living Supplies to design and build a metal-frame bed with a solid walnut headboard. As a designer, I can be a pain about details. Mark came up with a beautiful solution for attaching the headboard to the frame that exposed the bed’s structure. His attention to the little things really brought something very special to an understated piece.

I have worked with Mark and Modern Living Supplies for some time now. I have bought pieces from him and we have traded pieces. Most impressive to me is the work that Mark did on designing and building a number of items in my house. Most notably is an ebony cerused-oak dining table and 8 chairs with white parchment leather. These are stunning works of art that are simple, but make a very strong statement.

I first discovered Modern Living Supplies on 1stDibs.com a few years ago and liked what I saw. One day I ventured downtown to Mark’s shop; it was a long way but well worth the trip. His impeccable taste and amazing prices had me calling a delivery service within minutes. A few weeks later he was fabricating made-to-order Karl Springer dining chairs that went perfectly with my Robsjohn-Gibbings table. He came to my home to discuss an area where I was stuck, which is now my favorite place to relax. Mark suffers from acute awareness, so he pointed out mistakes I never saw and fixed them…Mark can do anything, design anything and find anything. And he never says no.
