Michele Aboud is one of Australia’s most well known and highly respected fashion and editorial photographers. In Still, Aboud taps into the Bressonian ideal of the decisive moment with a series of large-scale, black and white, side-by-side portraits of people and domestic animals at the moment of a simple blink. The diptych-style presentation, in which each portrait touches the other, creates a seam that draws focus to that decisive moment. The seam that eventuates is, in effect, that liminal space in which the decisive moment eternally rests.
